The 14TH season of the most loved cricket tournament, the Indian Premier League, is back in India and in the same summer window as always. The IPL 2020 had to be shifted out of India due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country and the Board of Control for Cricket had ensured the safety and health of all the players and officials involved in the tournament.

It felt like yesterday when the reigning champions Mumbai Indians beat the Delhi Capitals to lift the cup and now the tournament is back with another exciting season in its original time window.

The IPL governing body announced that the tournament will be played in India from April 9th, 2021. The IPL will be hosted by India after a gap of nearly two years. The venues have been reduced from 8 to 6 and will include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

The 14th season will kickstart on the 9th of April in Chennai, and The IPL 2021 final will be played on May 30th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The newly rebuilt stadium, which is currently the largest cricket stadium in the world and promises a visual spectacle, is all set to host its first-ever IPL season including playoffs and the final.

The news came as a delight to the audience, who have missed watching the IPL live matches from the stadium. The initial matches will be played behind closed doors and there will not be any spectators like the previous season, but a call on allowing spectators will be taken at a later stage. BCCI is taking safety protocols and keeping the bubble arrangements in place by ensuring that 12 bubbles be created 8 for franchises, 2 for match officials, and 2 for commentators.

The 14th edition of the IPL, which will be played at six venues in India and will be the second successive tournament during the pandemic. In the tournament opener, Mumbai Indians will be locking horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The first part of the tournament will be played in Mumbai and Chennai, and will then move on to other venues at Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.
